Achievement

The Actual Tamil Speaking Union started its journey as from 3rd June 2022.

What has been done from 3rd June 2022 till present:

  1. Conducting a Management Review of what happened between 2009 – 2021.
  2. Meeting with pioneers of the community to seek their wisdom to finalize our Action plan 2022 – 2025.
  3. Completion of our Action plan.
  4. Meeting with Tamil Educators to explain them our plans for the coming years.
  5. Meeting with Tamil organisations throughout the island to present our Action plan.
  6. Meeting with MCA Management to seek assistance to promote Tamil language.
  7. Sensitizing Tamil Educators to form part of our Spoken and Written panels.
  8. Constitution of a Written Tamil panel under the guidance of Dr (Mrs) U. D. Allaghery, with the following Educators:

  1. Constitution of a Spoken Tamil panel under the guidance of the Chairperson of TSU, Mr E. Nagapen, with the following Educators:
  • Dr (Mrs) S. Tiroumalechetty (Veni)
  • Mrs Vinisha Carpen
  • Mr Vinesh Triuvenkedan Swami (Sangaven)
  • Mr Naden Arnasalon and
  • Mrs Jayalutchmee Mauree (Kannagee).
  1. Meeting with Mr Sanjay Ghoorah, TV Producer of the MBC to look for a slot once monthly in Tamil program to promote Spoken and Written Tamil.
  2. Enlisting the support of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage and the Indian Embassy to connect Tamil Speaking Union with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K Stalin.
  3. Enlisting the support of Valai Tamil Academy of Chennai for the training of our Tamil Educators to conduct Spoken and Written Tamil.
  4. Celebration of (i) Finals of the Subramania Bharathiyar Poem Recital Competition (ii) Book launch ‘Malarndha Ninaivugal’ – A Collection of Short Stories in Tamil followed by a Prize Giving ceremony on Sunday 18 September 2022.
